Enable FileVault on your Macbook

A step-by-step guide on how to enable FileVault encryption on your Macbook.

 Instructions

  1. On your Launchpad, run the IT Self-Support app

2. Look for FileVault Disk Encryption and click on ‘Encrypt’.

3. A window prompt will appear on the lower right hand side of your screen. Click on ‘Submit' to proceed. (Note: Your system will be rebooted during the encryption process.)

 

4. Additional prompts may appear during this time that may need your attention.

5. To check if the encryption is successful, go to Settings > Privacy & Security and look for FileVault. The ‘Turn Off’ button should be visible if the encryption is enabled.

Highlight important information in a panel like this one. To edit this panel's color or style, select one of the options in the menu.
