Request for VCL from Faculty member

To request for any service from the VCL team, please fill out the request form found on the '[RequestForm][1]' tab on the ischoolvcl.umd.edu dashboard. Please fill out all the fields as instructed in the form. While making a request, if you are unsure of resource allocation (processing speed or storage), you can leave the field blank and send us an email at ischooltechsupport@umd.edu.

Evaluation of request by VCL team (1-3 business days).

This step ensures that the VCL team understands your requirements correctly. If you have an emergency request for a workshop or class (which requires delivery within the timeline) please let the VCL team know before this step.

Creation of necessary course template instance to meet requirements (2-4 business days).

At this step, the VCL team creates the Instance based on the requirements as submitted in the form.

Internal testing (1-3 business days).

The VCL team will test the functionality of the instance created on all major platforms. The requested software for the class will be found in a folder classed the starter kit or will be pinned to the taskbar.

Faculty testing (2-3 business days).

This step includes deployment of the image to request the faculty member for testing. This is to make sure that the image meets the course requirements before pushing it out to classes.

Corrections (2-4 business days).

This stage is for all the changes to be made with regard to the feedback of faculty testing. After this stage the faculty will be again asked for final approval of the instance.

Deployment

The image is then deployed to be made available for classroom to use. Technical support for the first class can be requested a week in advance. At this stage we will also require the duration of use of the instance and an email stating that we can delete the image after a particular mentioned date.
