New 208Z (Designing Tools for Tinkering and Learning)

Status

Update 9/5/23: Course being offered. 15 students enrolled. Jimmy Lin assisting with teaching; also have grader and undergraduate TA. Canvas course link (permission required): Fall 2023 INST 208z

Update 09/14/22: Dave’s Contact at Vex is sending to Kits which Dennis will play with and set up in the IoT Lab. We are evaluating kit for being a primary part of the lab environment for student learning experiences.

Key next steps Dennis/David are:

  • to refine learning outcomes,

  • get syllabus into the approval process,

  • set target class size, class student-to-equipment ratio,

  • decide on course technologies (which robotics kits, which programming environments)

  • brainstorm core lab experiences.

Update 12/12/22:

Brief

Newly proposed predecessor course to 371. Goal is to offer it in Spring 2023.
